Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen and Anathan "ana" Pham were added to T1 in an attempt to give it a strong push ahead of The International 11 (TI11) last chance qualifier. However, the team failed to rise to the occasion and did not qualify for the group stage. As players have already started to part ways with the team due to its poor result, in a recent livestream, former captain Carlo "Kuku" Palad discussed the performance and acknowledged his responsibility. Kuku said that his performance in the last chance qualifier was mediocre, and he is taking criticism in stride. Additionally, he explained the reasoning behind various decisions with regards to draft, as well as the future of T1, including Topson and Ana.
Kuku admits to his poor performance at TI11 LCQ and discusses the future of T1 members
In addition to accepting responsibility for not delivering the desired offlane performance, Kuku also asked the community not to blame now-departed coach Park "March" Tae-won and other members for the quality of drafts since it was he who did the drafting during the last chance qualifier.
Venomancer was highly prioritized by T1 during the event, but the hero didn't prove as effective as expected in many of the games. By the latter half of the tournament, the Venomancer pick started to be viewed with a lot of jests, and Kuku explained now that since the team was quite successful with it in the scrims, the hero had become a preferred pick in officials.
The memes now make him chuckle as well when the hero is picked, Kuku added.
In his first encounter with Topson and Ana, Kuku said that the former was highly motivated while ana needed a captain with a personality reminiscent of Sébastien "Ceb" Debs and Johan "N0tail" Sundstein, both very articulate and vocal players, which he did not possess.
The news of Kuku and Kenny "Xepher" Deo's departure has already been shared, and Kuku commented that the whole T1 team may rebuild. There are plenty of teams that want Topson on their teams, while ana's future seems quite uncertain.
Furthermore, Kuku suggests that due to the poor results that T1 saw at the last chance qualifier along with the poor results of the entire Southeast Asian (SEA) region at TI11 as well, the region is expected to go through a series of major transformations.
His preference is to be on a team where he can share captaincy duties with a co-captain since he has found position three and captaincy to be exhausting.
Since teams will be searching for talent for the next Dota Pro Circuit season during the next two months, it will likely take a while for Kuku and other T1 players to find their next destinations.
