Invictus Gaming is one of five Chinese representatives at The International (TI10). With a little over two months before TI10 kicks off in October 2021, Invictus Gaming’s coach, Su "super" Peng, discussed the team’s preparations for the event in an interview published on Weibo. The Chinese veteran said the team will take part in some online tournaments in August and then expects to reach Romania, Bucharest, which is the host city for TI10, by September 2021. The team at Invictus Gaming wants to arrive at the venue early so they can compete against foreign teams such as OG to gain more experience, super added.

Invictus Gaming may reach Romania for TI10 by September 2021

Invictus Gaming was one of the first teams that confirmed a slot at TI10, courtesy of their first place finish at the Singapore Major. After that performance, the team has not looked great, but it is imperative they took it easy with a slot already booked. Now, the team will be looking to work in full swing as its coach, super, talked about how the team plans to prepare for the greatest Dota 2 stage in the coming months.

Invictus Gaming played with super as a stand-in for Oli at the WePlay AniMajor.

The upcoming month of August will see Invictus Gaming battling it out online against other Chinese teams. Despite not being confirmed yet, Invictus Gaming plans to reach Bucharest, Romania by September. Super mentions that OG, the two-time TI champions, have a lot of different tactics that the squad of Invictus Gaming feels they can learn from them in the region.

“In August, we will play domestic online tournaments, mainly against Chinese teams. In September, we may go abroad for training in advance, which is still under planning for the time being, depending on the situation. We hope to play with foreign teams, because we have never played a team like OG, they are already two-time TI champions, I think their tactics are versatile and changeable, I hope to play with them to increase experience."

An event that Invictus Gaming will be participating in August is the OGA Dota PIT Season 5: China. This event will feature a total of eight teams, including the five Chinese TI10 representatives. The OGA Dota PIT Season 5: China will be held from 7th to 16th Aug 2021.

Furthermore, super discussed Invictus Gaming's upcoming midlaner, Zhou "Emo" Yi. In the tier one competitive scene, Emo is relatively new, but his infamous "?" all-chat in the third game of the grand final of the Singapore Major against Evil Geniuses has gained him worldwide fame.

OG's safelaner, Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan, described Emo as the "next big Chinese superstar" in 2018 when Emo played for iG Vitality as a stand-in with the nickname HAlf.

Since the two players will be competing against each other at TI10, super was asked if the team is preparing Emo in any specific way for the matchup. As he put it, players simply play their own game on such levels, instead of focusing on the enemy.

That's not true, SumaiL is now playing position one at OG, and Emo will not play directly against him. In fact, it's the same for any player, like Emo who likes Miracle more, but he didn't have any special mood swings when he played Miracle at the Major, he just played at his own level.

It will be interesting to see when the teams begin arriving in Bucharest, Romania to begin scrimming for TI10. Teams from regions outside of Europe will likely arrive earlier in order to begin practicing with teams from other regions. TI10 will take place from 7th-17th October 2021.
