Iceiceice Talks About Playing Against Techies; Abandons Game After Opponent Picks It
Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang , with his candor, always seems to bring something humorous during his livestreams and interviews. In his recent Twitch livestream on 31st July, 2021, Iceiceice once again gave his viewers something eccentric yet amusing. The Evil Geniuses’ offlaner described how it felt playing against a widely despised hero "Techies." Once he was done discussing how this hero unnecessarily prolongs matches, he entered a pub game. When the drafting phase began, an opponent chose Techies in the first phase which led iceiceice to actually abandon the game and subsequently receive a 30-minute queue cooldown.
Iceiceice explains what it feels like playing against and with Techies
Like most members of the Dota 2 community, iceiceice dislikes playing against Techies. A Twitch chatter asked how iceiceice felt about playing against the hero and he responded with brutal honesty, saying that if his opponents in the pub match pick it, he would simply abandon the match.
“You know, I am gonna abandon probably all my games today if I see a Techies today. I do not want to play against Techies. So, if someone is gonna pick Techies, I am just gonna abandon. I am not gonna even think twice. If you want free MMR, you can snipe my games now. Wait, you don’t even get MMR, you are just wasting time. I’ll sit here for like 30 minutes.”
Iceiceice further hilariously explained that it is better playing with Techies since it makes the game harder to win but playing against it is too boring.
“Playing with Techies? Playing with Techies is okay. I don’t care about playing with Techies, I just don’t want to play against him. It’s nice to play with him because it makes the game harder so the game is more fun. It’s boring to play against the hero because it drags the game more I guess.”
As soon as iceiceice found a game, he picked an unorthodox hero for the offlane in the first phase - a Morphling. While he had made sure to ban Techies in the banning phase, the hero did not receive a ban, and one of his opponents ended up choosing the hero instead. The next reaction of the Singaporean player was, "Oh god, alright goodbye game." as he clicked the "Abandon" option and quit the game.
Realizing he had a 30-minute queue cooldown, iceiceice grinned and said, “Okay, half an hour of Just Chatting. I don’t lie man. I am just gonna sit here for half an hour now and chat.”
After iceiceice's queue cooldown ended and he proceeded to play the next game, he hilariously picked Techies for himself.
Iceiceice is currently living in Singapore and streams occasionally on Twitch. After earning enough Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) points in the regular season, the offlaner qualified for The International 10 (TI10) with his team Evil Geniuses.
TI10 will take place from 7th-17th Oct 2021 in Romania, Bucharest.
