Highlights
BOOM Esports secured a 2-0 victory over Evil Geniuses at the Arlington Major 2022 in its final match of Day 1.
Evil Geniuses now languishes at the bottom of the Group Stages with a 0-4 scoreline.
The North American team is yet to win a single series in a DPC Major this season.

Evil Geniuses’ bad luck at the Dota 2 Pro Circuit 2021/22 Majors continues. After a poor performance in the ESL One Stockholm Major 2022 where it ended up crashing out of the group stages as the last-placed team, Evil Geniuses has gotten off to yet another poor start at the Arlington Major. The team currently has a 0-4 win-loss record and is in the bottom of its group and is at risk of being eliminated in the Group Stage.

Meanwhile, the only Southeast Asian team not affected by visa issues: BOOM Esports impressed on Day 1. After securing a 1-1 draw in its first game at the Arlington Major against Tundra Esports, BOOM Esports decimated Evil Geniuses 2-0 and finish in X place at the end of Day 1. The team seems to be in good touch and is looking likely to qualify for the playoffs and secure its spot at The International 11.

BOOM Esports comprehensively brings down Evil Geniuses

BOOM Esports kicked off Game 1 with Erin "Yopaj" Ferrer on his signature Ember Spirit that ran riot through Evil Geniuses lineup. He managed to position himself everywhere and proved to be a thorn on EG’s side at every turn, shutting them down completely and securing an easy straight-forward victory to open the series.

Game 2 was a lot closer. Although Yopaj managed to dominate the early game once again with superior laning and rotations compared to his opposing midlaner: Abed "Abed" Yusop in the early stages. Evil Geniuses’ Filipino star managed to turn things around with some clutch toss plays, keeping them in the game while Artour “Arteezy” Babaev split pushed and kept the farm even between the two teams

However, Timothy “TIMS” Randrup’s initiation that caught Evil Geniuses by surprise proved to be the decisive factor, as BOOM Esports forced diebacks on the back of this teamfight and secured the 2-0 victory over Evil Geniuses.

Evil Geniuses is yet to claim a single series victory in a DPC Major this season. The team desperately needs to win its next match to turn its fortunes around at the PGL Arlington Major 2022. Unfortunately, it faces undefeated Team Spirit in its next match.

BOOM Esports, on the other hand, will face bottom of the table beastcoast in its next match.
