Team SMG is Promoted to the SEA Upper Division of the Next DPC Season
- Team SMG has excelled in the Lower Division of the 2021 DPC Season 2 with a series of impressive performances and has now been promoted to the SEA Upper Division as a result.
- Team SMG’s solitary loss in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 2:Lower Division had come against JaCkky’s Motivate.Trust Gaming, who is the other team to have secured promotion to the SEA Upper Division.

Team SMG has excelled in the Lower Division of the 2021 DPC Season 2 with a series of impressive performances and has now been promoted to the SEA Upper Division as a result. MidOne and kpii will now be seen playing against the likes of TNC Predator, T1 and Fnatic in the SEA Upper Division in the next DPC season after a 2-0 victory over Army Geniuses on May 15, 2021, that secured the team's promotion. Team SMG’s solitary loss in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 2:Lower Division had come against JaCkky’s Motivate.Trust Gaming, who is the other team to have secured promotion to the SEA Upper Division.

Team SMG Gets Promoted From the Lower Division of the SEA DPC 2021 S2
Prior to the SEA 2021 DPC Season 2 Team SMG’s roster gained notoriety after it added players like MidOne and kpii to its lineup. The team had a rather bizarre journey through the open qualifiers but in the end, ended up making it to the Lower Division.
MidOne and kpii then had a promising start to the Lower Division as they took down Galaxy Racer 2-0, Team Mystery 2-0 before being outclassed by the raid boss of the SEA Lower Division, Motivate.Trust Gaming. However, Team SMG took the loss in its stride and then clinched consecutive victories against 496 Gaming, Cignal Ultra, South Built Esports and finally Army Geniuses to make it through to the upper division.
Having won six out of seven series, Team SMG is guaranteed a top-two finish and $16,000 USD in prize money.
On the other hand, Motivate.Trust Gaming is currently on a winning streak with six wins in six series and will play its last match against Galaxy Racer on May 20. Even if they lose their final series, they will stay on the top of the points table, courtesy of their head-to-head win against Team SMG.
