Fnatic, Neon Esports, TNC Predator, T1 and BOOM Esports’ Major Qualification Scenarios

Only three series are left to be played in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 1: Upper Division. While there will be a doubleheader on February 24 as Execration takes on 496 Gaming and Fnatic plays TNC Predator, the final series of the tournament will be played on February 25 between Neon Esports and T1.

How Can Fnatic, Neon Esports, TNC Predator, T1 and Boom Esports Make It to the Major?

Fnatic

With five wins and just a single loss, Fnatic is currently leading the points table in the SEA DPC 2021 Season 1: Upper Division.

To qualify for the Singapore Major, Fnatic needs the following:

  • Beat TNC Predator in their last series to reach the Major.
  • If they lose to TNC Predator but Neon wins against T1, they still qualify.
  • If they lose to TNC Predator and Neon also loses to T1, all four teams will have a W-L of 5-2. There will be a four-way tiebreaker out of which three teams make it to the Major. Fnatic will need to be top three in the tiebreaker to qualify.

Neon Esports

Neon Esports’ flawless performances have been the talking point in the SEA region as they are currently placed at the number two spot in the points table with five wins and one loss. Nobody would have expected them to qualify for the Major but here they are, so close to doing it.

To qualify for the Singapore Major, Neon needs the following:

  • Beat T1 in their last series to reach the Major.
  • If they lose to T1 but Fnatic beats TNC, they still qualify.
  • If they lose to T1 and Fnatic also loses to TNC, all four teams will have a W-L of 5-2. There will be a four-way tiebreaker out of which three teams make it to the Major. Neon will need to be top three in the tiebreaker to qualify.

TNC Predator

After a disastrous loss in their first series against Execration, TNC Predator is now in a decent position to qualify for the Major. They are currently placed at the number three spot with four wins and two losses.

To qualify for the Singapore Major, TNC needs the following:

  • Beat Fnatic in their last series and Neon defeats T1.
  • Beat Fnatic and Neon loses to T1, all four teams will have a W-L of 5-2. There will be a four-way tiebreaker out of which three teams make it to the Major. TNC will need to be top three in the tiebreaker to qualify.
  • If they lose to Fnatic and T1 loses to Neon, there will be a three-way tiebreaker among TNC, T1 and BOOM Esports for just one remaining slot. TNC will need to win the tiebreaker to qualify.

T1

T1 has managed to deliver a decent performance in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 1: Upper Division with four wins and two losses. Their two losses came against Fnatic and TNC Predator.

To qualify for the Singapore Major, T1 needs the following:

  • Beat Neon Esports in their last series and Fnatic beats TNC.
  • Beat Neon Esports and Fnatic loses to TNC, all four teams will have a W-L of 5-2. There will be a four-way tiebreaker out of which three teams make it to the Major. T1 will need to be top three in the tiebreaker to qualify.
  • If they lose to Neon Esports and TNC loses to Fnatic, there will be a three-way tiebreaker among TNC, T1 and BOOM Esports for just one remaining slot. T1 will need to win the tiebreaker to qualify.

BOOM Esports

BOOM Esports have no remaining series left and are currently placed at the fifth spot with four wins and three losses.

To qualify for the Singapore Major, BOOM needs the following:

  • If Fnatic and Neon beat TNC and T1, there will be a three-way tiebreaker among TNC, T1 and BOOM Esports for just one remaining slot. BOOM will need to win the tiebreaker to qualify.

Summary

Fnatic and Neon have the highest chance of making it to the Major. If they win their final matches, they are through and even if they lose, they can reach either directly or through the tiebreakers. T1 and TNC also have a decent chance though most of their qualification scenarios are dependent on the results of the remaining matches. BOOM has an outside chance as they bank upon TNC and T1 losing their final series.
