If you still haven’t heard of Atomic War, the Dota 2 arcade game, it is a Rogue-like PVP mod, similar but different from Dota Auto Chess, which was massively popular in 2019. It features a round-based combat system where you fight an enemy player’s heroes on your board or are teleported to their board with your units. The winner is determined in a battle royale manner, with the last player alive wins. Atomic War took the Dota arcade world by storm and now is one of the most played game modes in the arcade with more than 400k people subscribed to the game and always has a lot of people playing the game at all times. The game mode features its own ranking system which we will explain below.
How Does the Ranking System Work in Dota Atomic War?
Atomic War closely resembles the ranking system style of Dota 2 with seven different ranks, with each rank having different levels and stars. Here is a list of the ranks, and the levels and stars within each rank:
Unranked - This rank has five levels and three stars per level.
Bronze - Bronze rank has five levels and three stars per level.
Silver - Silver rank has ten levels and five stars per level.
Gold - Gold rank has ten levels and five stars per level.
Platinum - Platinum rank has ten levels and five stars per level.
Diamond - Diamon rank has ten levels and five stars per level.
Legend - From Legend, ranking is based on the number of stars a player has.
Stars are the ‘points’ that players gain in an Atomic War match that they need to get to the next levels and ranks of the ranking system. Players will gain stars if they score a high placing while getting bottom placement will cost them several stars. Here is how stars are distributed in a game of Atomic War:
First place: +3 stars
Second place: +2 stars
Third and fourth place: +1 star
Fifth place: +0 stars
Sixth place: -1 star
Seventh place: -2 stars
Eighth place: -3 stars.
Similar to the standard Dota ranking system, ranks in Atomic War do not contain any rewards for players when they rank up. The few benefits include getting matched with similarly ranked players and most importantly, the ability to flex your rank. Although, with the rise of Atomic War among Dota 2 Arcade games, we can hope to see future upgrades including rewards for players when they rank up.
