Astralis senior player Xyp9x has extended his contract with the organization until 2025.
This comes as a bit of a surprise because just a couple of months back, Xyp9x was uncertain about his future with the organization.
Xyp9x will be playing for Astralis at the PGL Major Stockholm 2021, replacing Bubzkji on the active roster.

The four time Major champion Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth has extended his contract with Astralis until 2025. This announcement comes just a week after the organization announced its CS:GO roster for the upcoming PGL Major Stockholm 2021, where Xyp9x was named as part of the playing five in place of Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen.

However, many were taken by surprise as the 26-year-old two months back in August had spoken about the uncertainty of his future with Astralis. The young marksmen Philip "Lucky" Ewald replacing him on the team's active roster for ESL Pro League Season 14, as Xyp9x said that he was "looking forward into what the future brings".

Xyp9x to continue competing in CS:GO with Astralis until 2025

The clutch minister has decided to stay put with the Danish organization until 2025, after commenting about his uncertain future with Astralis just a couple of months back.

Xyp9x uncertain about his future with Astralis in August

After a brief absence following the summer player break, Xyp9x returned to the active roster when Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander in anticipation of the birth of his first child took a short break from all his responsibilities.

Competing after more than two months, Xyp9x was a bit rusty across both BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2021 and IEM Fall 2021: Europe, but showcased the classic tendency of clutching rounds for his side when it counted the most.

Astralis did well across both the events, qualifying for BLAST Premier Fall 2021 and PGL Major Stockholm 2021, respectively.

Xyp9x on extending his contract with Astralis

Speaking about extending his contract, Xyp9x says that despite him having other options in his hand he still felt comfortable going with the Danish organization. His focus is now completely on the Major at hand where they will be competing as the reigning champions, and even though they enter this event with a new lineup the players know what it takes to win.

Astralis has been a part of me for so many years. It is no secret that I had other options, but I am truly excited that we have come to an agreement that means I can stay right here, where I feel at home. With my future settled, I can now use all my energy and focus to get the team back where we belong, starting with the coming tournament in Stockholm.
Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth - Statement to Astralis

With Xyp9x having secured his position until 2025 and reports of Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke making his way to Astralis emerging, it certainly is an exciting time for Astralis. The players who have been locked in by the organization going ahead are:

  • Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth

  • Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander

  • Philip "Lucky" Ewald

There is uncertainty around the future of Bubzkji as he was dropped from the Major lineup and his current contract coming to an end in mid-2022. Along with this, there are doubts about Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and Emil "Magisk" Reif's future as well.
