In celebration of the first CS:GO Major to take place in the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg), the city of Antwerp along with Lucy Agency commissioned the creation of the new map which is a representation of the city within the game.
The new CS:GO map called 'Antwerp Harbor' has been developed by Mapshot in collaboration with Elvie group ApS, giving everyone a virtual glimpse of the city harbor as players continue to enjoy the game.
Antwerp Harbor: New CS:GO map created to celebrate the launch of PGL Antwerp Major 2022
In the first of its kind, the city of Antwerp has done something special to celebrate the arrival of the CS:GO Major which is scheduled to take place from 9th to 22nd May. It commissioned the creation of a special CS:GO map called 'Antwerp Harbor' based on the city of Antwerp itself and hosted an offline launch for it as well.
The map created specially in celebration of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022 is "based on unique landmarks and other typical elements of the city," this includes,
The beautiful skyline that the city has to offer.
Masterpieces by Peter Paul Rubens, a Flemish artist and diplomat from Southern Netherlands.
Diamonds, due to Antwerp being known as the diamond capital of the world for several centuries.
Velo, which is Antwerp's most widely used bike sharing service.
Many more treasures that the city of Antwerp has to offer.
The map is available for all CS:GO players across the globe for free online on Steam at Mapshot.gg's Workshop. Additionally, the city of Antwerp has also announced an offline activation today on 7th May at the gaming booth in Stadsfeestzaal, which is a shopping mall in Antwerp, Belgium.
All those interested in trying out the map can do so by downloading it for free from the Steam Workshop page by Clicking Here.
The majority of the CS:GO community appreciated this effort taken by the city of Antwerp to celebrate the arrival of the CS:GO Major in such a brilliant way by immortalizing the city in a virtual form within the game itself for everyone to enjoy.
Many even requested for the map to be included as part of the tournament showmatch, which honestly is a terrific idea. With the tournament ready to commence in just a few days it shall surely be a treat if the map played on the big stage in some form or the other.
