Shox to Reportedly Part Ways With Team Liquid's CS:GO Roster
Team Liquid might be considering undergoing some changes!
Team Liquid has not been having the best year so far despite undergoing heavy shuffles before the 2022 competitive season. Their '0-3' loss in the Legends Stage of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022 seems to have dealt a heavy blow, especially for the French veteran Richard "shox" Papillon who was the worst rated player in the Legends Stage of the tournament.
Now, a few days after the team's elimination from the Major, reports have surfaced claiming that shox might be considering an early departure from the North American organization. According to a report by Dot Esports, multiple sources have revealed that shox will likely leave the Liquid roster at his own request.
Report: Shox likely to depart Team Liquid's CS:GO roster
Team Liquid qualified for the PGL Antwerp Major 2022 with a Contenders status after managing a '3-1' record at the American RMR (Regional Major Rankings).
However, their performance at the Major was very disappointing as they barely managed to make it through the Challengers Stage, squeezing past with a '3-2' scoreline and grabbing the last available spot for the Legends Stage.
Liquid faced three consecutive defeats against Heroic, FURIA Esports, and Team Vitality, not winning a single map as they were eliminated from the tournament and stood last in the Legends Stage, walking away with $8,750 USD for attaining a 16th place finish.
The main factor for their lackluster performance was a lack in individual effort when needed the most. Out of the playing five, Keith "NAF" Markovic was the only player with an overall HLTV rating of more than 1.0 during the Legends Stage, while three players found themselves amongst the bottom ten players - shox being the last on this list with a 0.64 HLTV rating across four maps along with a -36 K/D ratio.
His current form and the team's string of poor performances seems to have influenced his alleged decision of parting ways with Team Liquid. Apart from this, it seems shox had reportedly been facing issues travelling between North America and Europe, which could also be a factor in him taking this decision.
Team Liquid is all set to compete in the upcoming IEM Dallas 2022 which is scheduled to take place from 30th May to 5th June. It remains to be seen if Liquid will be making a switch before this tournament or will this event be the last one they compete in along with shox, only time will tell.
