Is Counter-Strike 2 Dying? CS2 Hits All-Time Low Player Count

Counter-Strike 2 seems to be in dire straights just two months after its global launch on 27th September. The community is not too pleased with the way Valve is handling things and the current state of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) is proof enough.
The tactical shooter has already hit its lowest average player count for the year and it may go down even further.
According to Steam Charts, in the last 30 days, CS2 has witnessed a player loss of 8.93% which directly impacts its average count, pulling it down to 721,426.1 players, the lowest this year so far.
Counter-Strike 2 Average Player Count Hits All-Time Low
Even after spending months in closed beta, Counter-Strike 2 is facing a lot of issues around its gameplay and other features, which has slowly started to impact its overall playerbase.
In a recent Reddit Post, which highlighted the fact that CS2 had hit its lowest average player count for 2023, a serious discussion started to emerge between the players about everything wrong with the game.
A few points that many in the community resonated with are as follows,
Many in the community were hoping to get some sort of a new experience with CS2 but what they got in return was a slightly better-looking version of CS:GO with most features absent from it like players being able to select their preferred region.
A lot of players were upset with the way matchmaking currently works in Counter-Strike 2.
Another constant complaint was that of superior hardware requirements which were deemed to be higher than Valorant's.
The presence of a high volume of cheaters was another matter of concern for a lot of players, resulting in a negative mentality for them where they started to doubt any good play made by a team or player.
While most players seem to publicly lodge their concerns regarding Counter-Strike 2 and have discussions around them, a few also came to Valve's rescue, reasoning that the average player count was not decreasing but rather adjusting itself to its original numbers as the hype of Counter-Strike 2 was slowly fading away.
The user reasoned that only if the decline was steady for say the next six months and the average player count dropped down to 2019 numbers, which were well below 500,000 players, would there be a cause for concern.
There is no denying the fact that CS2 is not a completely polished game as of now but it is not right to say Valve is not taking any corrective steps. The developers have been constantly pushing out updates every other day and it has been improving the game bit by bit.
However, the dropping average player count is surely a cause of concern. It will be interesting to see how long Valve sustains this loss before taking some action or will they mange to turn things around in time.
