G2 Reportedly Interested in Aleksib, m0NESY $600k Transfer Talks Still Ongoing
G2 Esports has started hunting CS:GO players for its 2022 lineup.
G2 Esports has had a mediocre run through the 2021 competitive season. Despite grabbing a lot of second and third-place finishes, victory at big CS:GO tournaments has eluded them. To turn these top finishes into victories, G2 Esports has reportedly started scouting for potential candidates to bolster their CS:GO roster for 2022.
At the moment G2 is in negotiations with the breakout NAVI Junior player, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, as discussions are are still underway for a reported transfer amount of around $600,000 USD along with some additional terms.
While no confirmation concerning the above transfer has come forward, another report by 1pv.fr points towards G2 showing an interest in procuring Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen over from OG.
G2 Esports is reportedly interested in signing Aleksib from OG
G2 Esports just a few weeks after the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 had taken a decision to part ways with their CS:GO coach, Damien "maLeK" Marcel, who had been with the organization since November 2018.
It seems more changes might be on the horizon as the team prepares to step into 2022 with a new IGL (in-game leader) and a dedicated AWPer being their top priority at the moment. This double move seems to be aligning perfectly with both the players that G2 has reportedly shown an interest towards, m0NESY and Aleksib.
Ever since m0NESY took Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev's advice and reports came out stating that NAVI was accepting offers for the 16-year-old from interested organizations, G2 Esports was the first name that got linked with this move and is still being reported as something that is currently under negotiation.
Additionally, Aleksib now seems to be G2's reported choice for a new IGL. Unfortunately, he is currently contracted to OG till the end of 2022. So in case G2 actually wants to sign him, they should be willing to spend some cash or look elsewhere.
Aleksib might not have achieved a lot of success with OG but the Finnish rifler is a great shotcaller and even has solid potential when it comes to fragging for the side. G2 acquiring him could be an ascension for both the parties involved.
If the GameInside reports are accurate and the transfer amount of m0NESY is actually around $600,000 USD, with there being additional terms to the deal, it is tough to say how much would they be willing to pay for Aleksib's buyout. It is quite a tough situation for G2 Esports since they might be required to make a sacrifice.
