Copenhagen Flames Talks About Its Future, Plans to Build New CS:GO Roster
Flames 3.0 is officially under construction!
Copenhagen Flames (CPHF) had faced a tough time transferring its entire CS:GO roster to an established esports organization ahead of the 2022 competitive season. Following this, they decided to continue with the same lineup which ended up reaching the quarterfinals of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022.
Impressed with the team's growth, two members of the squad, Nico "nicoodoz" Tamjid and Fredrik "roeJ" Jørgense, were signed by Fnatic. A tough decision of transfer listing the remaining three players was taken by CPHF along with the formation of a new CS:GO roster - Flames 3.0.
In an official statement released by the Danish esports organization, it spoke about its past achievements, while also discussing plans for its future.
Copenhagen Flames plans to build a new CS:GO roster - Flames 3.0
Copenhagen Flames is one of the top-ranked Danish esports organizations when it comes to CS:GO at this point in time. Despite facing stiff competition from top tier teams it managed to slowly crawl its way up the ladder over a period of four years.
2021 was CPHF's first breakout year as it not only manged to qualify for the PGL Stockholm Major 2022 but against all odds managed to reach the Legends Stage, placing 9th-11th at the tournament and instantly became a highly desirable lineup.
This is exactly what CPHF wanted to achieve with its program, growing players so that a well established organization could pick them up and provide them with better opportunities. However, despite several negotiations and Complexity Gaming coming very close to finalizing a deal, nothing transpired and the players decided to continue competing under the banner of CPHF.
The player of CPHF went on to prove their worth by reaching the quarterfinals of the Antwerp Major this year and finally two of the players were picked by Fnatic, leading CPHF to take the decision to transfer list the other players and go ahead to create the third iteration of its CS:GO lineup.
Now another chapter begins. A rebuilding phase which we know very well, but our starting point is very much different and much stronger. Our recent success has attracted partners, brought on more media attention, increased our fan base, and strengthened our economy. Although we know that we are nowhere near our competitors budget-wise still; we have no doubt that we are among the world’s best in terms of creating successful lineups and developing players who can compete at the highest level. Flames 2.0 is no more, and nicoodoz and roeJ move on to fnatic with our immense gratitude and well wishes. We will also be looking to find new homes for HooXi, jabbi and Zyphon. All of these players have proven that they belong at the top tier of Counter-Strike, and we will do everything in our power to make sure they are treated as such wherever they go.Statement by Copenhagen Flames
Talking about its future, CPHF stated that going forward it aims to maintain the current level of results. It shall sign a lineup full of potential and though the road ahead will be full of challenges, the road back to the Major continues to be its main goal.
For now, the old CPHF CS:GO roster does not exist any more and it remains to be seen who will be signing the three remaining players - Jakob "Jabbi" Nygaard, Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen, and Rasmus "Zyphon" Nordfoss.
