What Will Happen to CS:GO When Counter-Strike 2 Releases?
is arriving in Summer 2023 as a free upgrade for all Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) players. Many are wondering what will happen to CS:GO once Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) launches since there are players who have built up a collection of skins and cases over the years.
CS:GO players will retain all existing items in Counter-Strike 2
Once Counter-Strike 2 launches, CS:GO will no longer be available. All players will be transitioned to the new game and your CS:GO inventory will also be transferred.
When Valve announced Counter-Strike 2, it revealed that all CS:GO items will be transferred over to Counter-Strike 2 and you do not have to worry about losing any items. With CS2 being a direct upgrade for existing CS:GO players, you don’t have to worry about manually transferring your items. When the game releases, all of your items will automatically be classified under Counter-Strike 2 in the Steam Marketplace.
We recommend keeping track of your CS:GO inventory and reach out to Steam Support in case of any items going missing when Counter-Strike 2 launches.
Launch Steam and click on your username (next to the Community tab)
Click on Inventory
Browse through all of your CS:GO/CS2 items and check their current marketplace values
You will need to go through all of your items and total the amount
While there are third-party tools that can automate this process, we do not recommend linking third-party apps to Steam unless it’s from a verified publisher.
