We all know how annoying bots can be in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) and they are making a return in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2). All bots do is make unnecessary callouts and get in the way of your bullets just to grieve you. Just like CS:GO, Counter-Strike 2 allows you to remove bots via the console menu. If you are tired of bots blocking your shots in private games, here’s a quick guide to help you remove bots in Counter-Strike 2.
Are there bots in Counter-Strike 2?
Valve had initially implemented bots in all standard game modes in CS:GO. It was a highly controversial feature that divided the community into two. Some appreciated the inclusion of bots as a catchup mechanic for teams with missing players while others managed to abuse the system.
High-level players would use bots as second lives after dying once, and it essentially gave an unfair advantage in very specific scenarios. Bots were removed from ranked games completely but they are still available in private games. The same rules apply to Counter-Strike 2 and you will not be running into any bots in your ranked games in CS2.
While bots will not be available in your ranked games in Counter-Strike 2, all private games will have bots by default unless you remove them using console commands.
How to remove bots in Counter-Strike 2
Launch Counter-Strike 2
Go to Settings and enable Developer Console if your console is disabled
Press ‘~’ to launch the console
Type: mp_limitteams 1, and press Enter
Launch the console again
Type: mp_autoteambalance and press Enter
Launch the console a third time
Type: bot_kick to remove bots from your private game
Bots will be removed from your current private game and you have to repeat the process in future lobbies manually.
