  • T1 will play their next series against Lilgun on April 24 while Omega Esports plays TNC Predator on April 21.

T1 has been undone by a clinical performance coming in from the Filipino squad of Omega Esports. Omega Esports seemed to be the much better side on the day as they defeated T1 2-1 in the latter’s debut series in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division. This is a massive upset considering T1 has the better squad on paper, and this series also marked the return of their captain, Carlo "Kuku" Palad, after he had missed the Singapore Major. Omega Esports, who had paved their way through the Lower Division, has now won both of their opening encounters in the Regional League.

T1 vs Omega Esports: Match Recap and Highlights

The SEA 2021 DPC Season 2: Upper Division resumed on April 17, 2021, with BOOM Esports vs Lilgun and T1 vs Omega Esports. After BOOM Esports secured an easy 2-0 victory over Lilgun in the first one, the second series between T1 and Omega Esports led to quite an upset.

Game 1 witnessed Omega Esports draft an unconventional by a highly constructive core duo with a mid lane Beastmaster and a safe lane Sniper. All their heroes played the laning phase in the desired way and then showcased calm and collected Dota 2 to take objective by objective cautiously. T1 had all eggs put in 23savage’s basket on the Juggernaut, but Omega made no errors, winning the game in 51 minutes.

Game 2 saw Omega draft another unorthodox hero in the mid lane in the form of Rubick. While they came out ahead after the laning phase, their heroes had relatively low scaling potential. T1 had Karl on Bristleback and 23savage on Morphling as they grew into unkillable beasts, helping secure the victory in 42 minutes.

Game 3 was an absolute massacre of T1’s heroes as they were chased and killed all over the map. Omega had an aggressive early-game-centered lineup once again as they did not let the game slip away after a formidable laning phase. Losing almost all lanes, T1 tapped out of the game in 29 minutes with an unfavorable scoreline of 32-4.

Here are some highlights of the series:

Taking nothing away from Omega Esports, this was a disappointing performance from the side of T1. They were expected to have the upper hand with Kuku’s return, but they made mistakes in their lanes, itemization, and shot-calling, as highlighted by the English PGL panel. However, it is still their first series, and one can expect them to bounce back in the matches to come. Their next series is scheduled for April 24, 2021, against Lilgun.

On the other hand, Omega Esports looked clear and creative in their plans, whether the drafts or the gameplay. Even with Bok and Boomy leaving them for TNC Predator, Omega seems to be looking potent enough as they can certainly put up a show against other strong teams like TNC Predator, Fnatic, and OB.Neon. Their next series will be against TNC Predator on April 21, 2021.
