Fnatic defeat Neon Esports to reach the top spot in the SEA 2021 DPC Season 1

The SEA 2021 DPC Season 1: Upper Division witnessed a cracker of a series today as Fnatic faced Neon Esports in a battle for the top spot.

In game 1, Neon had a relatively weaker draft as they lacked damage and lockdown to kill enemy heroes. Almost all of their ganks were countered by Fnatic, which put them at a considerable deficit in the game’s early stages. All of Fnatic’s heroes surpassed their counterparts in terms of net worth as they convincingly won the first game in just 32 minutes.

Game 2 witnessed Neon bouncing back as Natsumi- delivered a flawless performance on Phantom Lancer. While neither team had a considerable networth lead at even the 30-minute mark, Natsumi- was a beast as he did not die once and carried his team to a victory in the second game in 39 minutes.

Game 3 was a very close one as Fnatic, who, despite having a solid networth lead, found it hard to pierce the high ground of Neon. The Filipino squad, as well, spectacularly held their base and managed to extend the game. However, Fnatic’s heroes had more items, better map control, and Raven on a six-slotted Wraith King, which allowed the team to end a very competitive game three.

The full highlights of the series can be viewed in the following video.

Fnatic Moon talks about the series against Neon Esports

In the post-match winners’ interview, Fnatic’s midlaner, Kam "Moon" Boon Seng, talked about the loss in the second match and their conscious approach to hit the high ground of Neon in the third match.

“In the second game, we thought that we are in a good spot, splitting Neon until we made a mistake at the top high ground, and then the game just slipped away.

(In the third game) I think we just tried to play safe, and we would have played this way if it was any other team. We just try to do what’s best in that particular moment.”
