  • kpii, in a post match interview, mentioned that the DPC format was punishing in a way that there was no second chance for the teams in case they had a bad performance because of the absence of playoffs.

  • He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the duration of the DPC stating that it was a bit too long.

  • TNC is not having a strong showing at the SEA-DPC 2021 S1 as they have lost two out of the three series they have played.

TNC Predator’s offlaner, Damien "kpii" Chok, mentioned his concerns with the format of the 2021 DPC Season 1 in a post-match winners’ interview. After TNC’s win over Vice Esports on January 27, kpii felt that this new DPC system was punishing so that there was no second chance opportunity for teams since there were no playoffs. kpii also expressed his displeasure with the DPC's six weeks duration, which he believed was a “bit too long.”

In the post-match interview, kpii was asked if he felt the format of the 2021 DPC Season 1 was “punishing” in a way that the bottoms two teams would be eliminated, and every match mattered a lot because of the absence of playoffs, to which he replied,

“The only complaint I have I think, especially not because we lost the first series (against Execration) is I think, there should be playoffs. It’s kinda like a single-bracket I would say, this format. You don’t really get like a second chance with the playoffs, it’s like every match matters. If you fuck up then yeah so on that note, the format is a bit punishing I would say.

He then also expressed his dissatisfaction with the duration of the DPC.

“Also, I think, the format is a bit too long. It’s like six weeks, like whatever and then we play only eight games in total so I think it’s, you know, a bit too long.”

After this interview and win over Vice Esports, TNC played against Neon Esports on January 30 which they, surprisingly, lost 1-2. The no playoffs and only group stages format is seemingly going to take a toll on TNC’s chances to qualify to the first Major of the 2021 DPC Season 1, considering they have already incurred a couple of shocking losses.
