- Imperial cancels the European bootcamp after two of its players test positive for COVID-19.
- LUCAS1 and fnx are the two players who have tested positive after a PCR test.
- According to Imperial all the players are currently asymptomatic.
Brazilian CS:GO team Imperial Esports recently revealed that they have cancelled their European bootcamp as two of their players tested positive for COVID-19 after a PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test. Though the team themselves did not reveal the identity of the infected players, it was found out that the players who tested positive are Lincoln “fnx” Lau and Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles.
While LUCAS1 himself came forward to reveal that he had tested positive the other was an easy guess from Imperial’s statement that read “Who had already tested positive at the beginning of the pandemic,” indirectly referring to fnx who had contracted the virus a few months back.

Imperial Cancels Bootcamp As Two Players Contract Coronavirus
The Brazilian organization Imperial esports had planned a European Bootcamp in Serbia so that the entire team could prepare better for the upcoming fall RMR tournament Tribo To Major. But it had to be cancelled after two of their players reportedly fnx and LUCAS1 were tested positive for COVID-19 following a PCR test, which had to be taken before the team was allowed to enter Europe.
In the statement released by the organization, they stated that for everyone’s safety “We prefer not to make the trip.” Imperial will continue to practice in Brazil because despite there being chances of a ‘false positive’, till the time results of the retest would have come they would have missed their scheduled time of departure, “Which would make the entire agenda assumed by the team unfeasible.”

The one thing in the statement that seemed out of place was the fact that the experts consulted by Imperial confirmed that “The PCR test could continue to show a positive result, even after weeks/months of having been recovered.” This seems to be in contradiction to AACC President Dr Carmen Wiley’s explanation of PCR testing as she states that “A PCR test can tell you if you have COVID-19 right now, but not if you’ve had it in the past.”
According to users, fnx had contracted the virus a few months back. This raises some doubts like; Did he contract the virus again after having recovered once or has he not recovered since contracting the virus initially?
Fnx himself has not revealed anything about the situation from his side unlike LUCAS1, so it is unclear what the player’s current status is like. Imperial, in conclusion, has clarified that all the players are asymptomatic and that the organisation is there to support both players and other team members, if necessary.
