While a few CS:GO players and teams might be shifting bases to Riot Games VALORANT, it looks like League of Legends world champions FunPlus Pheonix might be looking to expand into CS:GO by signing the Danish roster of Heroic, while also booking one of the three slots for FLASHPOINT, according to a report by 1pv.fr.

There have already been heavy speculations regarding Chaos and HAVU being invited to the league, now with rumors of Heroic springing up, if all of them were to come true we might have all the 12 teams participating in the event.

FunPlus Pheonix is a Chinese esports organization that was founded in 2017 won the World Championship for League of Legends last year in Paris, defeating G2 Esports in the finals quite easily. While this might not be their first foray into shooter games as they already field a team in both PUBG and Fortnite, it is surely the first time that they will be signing a team for a non-battle royale shooter.

As for Heroic, the Danish team has not had a good year so far, finishing 7th-8th at ICE Challenge 2020 while also failing to qualify for the European Minor, facing defeats against Heretics and Copenhagen Flames.

But this is not even their most trivial concern. Heroic will also be participating in the ESL Pro League Season 11 Finals where they have been placed in Group - B alongside teams like fnatic, Na’Vi, FURIA, Complexity, and forZe, so the question that arises is that which one of the two leagues will Heroic choose if the rumors were to come true.

If the report was to come true FunPlus Phoenix roster will be as follows,

  • Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer
  • Casper "cadiaN" Møller
  • Patrick "es3tag" Hansen
  • Martin "stavn" Lund
  • Johannes "b0RUP" Borup
