A few days after Riot Games released information about its upcoming tactical first-person shooter VALORANT, Japan’s number one CS:GO team Absolute announced its departure from Counter-Strike with plans to play VALORANT in the future.

Absolute is the best CS:GO team from Japan who has represented the region in multiple international tournaments like WESG 2018, eXTREMESLAND 2019, and OMEN Challenger Series 2019. Apart from this, they have stood victorious in all major domestic tournaments like WESG Japan 2018, WESG Japan 2019, OMEN Japan Cup 2020, Galleria Global Challenge 2019, and UTAGE Japan League Season 2.

The reason behind this switch can be no official development by Valve in Japan, the team although being the best in Japan could never achieve anything big out of that region. With VALORANT making big waves about it being a strong competition to CS:GO, Absolute can hope for a better competitive ecosystem in the region from Riot Games.
