How Much Data Does Free Fire and Call of Duty: Mobile Consume

Following the ban on PUBG Mobile, other battle royale alternatives like Garena Free Fire and Call of Duty: Mobile are becoming more popular. There are many differences between the two frontrunners. Free Fire introduces characters with special abilities and Fortnite-esque basic building into the battle royale genre.

The Call of Duty series has seen several successes, with games like Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops considered classics. With Call of Duty: Mobile, the franchise looked to taking a bite out of the mobile gaming pie. The mobile game has many of the same game modes, maps, and weapons from across the franchise. Many players prioritize features like gyro to decide while some have data consumption constraints. Today, let’s look at how much data each of these games uses in comparison to PUBG Mobile.

Mobile Data Consumption Of Various Games

The overall data consumption per game is low across the board. However, there are different variables that can increase or decrease your consumption while playing, depending also on the game itself. There are different elements that affect how much data your time gaming will consume. For example, playing on higher graphics settings will increase the amount of data consumed per hour of play. However, in any game, all graphics and textures, however good they are, are generated on the hardware (cell phone, computer, console) and only simple information is exchanged between this device and the game server: basically, just its position and actions. 

Excluding the main data file and its various updates, simply playing PUBG Mobile will consume approximately 28.06 MB data per hour while Call of Duty: Mobile consumes approximately 35 MB data in an hour. Free Fire consumes about 30.6 MB per hour of gameplay. To look at another battle royale, Fortnite Mobile consumes a whopping 50.3 MB of data per hour. 

PUBG Mobile consumed the least amount of data among all the battle royales compared. Free Fire comes in next at 30.6 MB which will take up approximately three matches in 1 hour. Call of Duty, due to its slightly more demanding graphics, takes up 5 MB more on an average. On the other hand, Fortnite Mobile spends a lot more mobile data.

Tips For Using Lower Data For Online Mobile Gaming

• If your subscribed data pack has a data limit, follow these tips to control your consumption.
• Make updates on Wi-Fi only; you can choose apps manually for this function.
• Game installation files are usually heavy so download only on Wi-Fi.
• Create consumption limits for each app.
• Avoid watching videos using the mobile network.
