Wild Rift to Add Position Preference Feature in Unranked Matches
Riot Games revealed that it will be implementing the Position Preference feature in unranked matches in League of Legends: Wild Rift in the upcoming Patch 2.5 update. The Position Preference Feature in Wild Rift will allow players to set their most preferred role down to the least role they want. This way, matchmaking will prioritize the roles you prefer playing depending on how many players are currently in queue. This feature was only made available in ranked matches. However, in the upcoming Wild Rift patch 2.5 update, the Position Preference feature will also be made available in unranked matches.
Position Preference feature may add convenience to unranked matches in Wild Rift
Since the addition of the back in August 2021, players have found it very convenient as they no longer have to argue on who will take each role in every match. This made it very easy for teams to plan their champion picks and know who specializes in what role.
Two days before the official reveal of the Wild Rift patch 2.5 preview, Riot Games announced that they will be adding the Position Preference feature to unranked matches. However, unranked matches will retain the Blind Pick format and there will be no champion banning.
Rito Games stated that the reason for this update is to give players the ability to have more control over what role they prefer to play. The devs are confident that adding the Position Preference feature in Wild Rift’s unranked matches will not have a negative impact on queue times or matchmaking fairness.
When the official Wild Rift patch 2.5 update drops on 14th Oct 2021, make sure to set your preferred roles before queueing on an unranked match.
What is the Position Preference feature in Wild Rift?
The Position Preference Feature in Wild Rift allows players to set their most preferred role down to the least role they want. They will then be matched with players according to their preference to make a team with different role specialization. The best part of this feature is that, unlike the PC version, players can just set this once and don’t have to reset their preference for every match unless necessary.
The position preference also shows your most played champions and which positions these champions may be suitable for. Players who view your profile will also see which role you specialized in.
It will be interesting to see how the unranked PVP matches will improve with the addition of the Position Preference Feature in Wild Rift.
