Riot Games have revealed more details for the upcoming League of Legends: Wild Rift Ranked Season 4 Rewards System. The upcoming patch update delivers a revamped ranked rewards system that allows players to earn more rewards the more they play ranked games. Players can also save up on points to exchange for previous ranked exclusive skins that cannot be obtained by other means. According to Wild Rift lead game designer Ed "MartianSpider" Knapp, the new Wild Rift Ranked Season 4 Rewards System will make competitive matches much more rewarding and incentivize players to keep playing ranked matches instead of stopping when they’ve unlocked the exclusive skin and then waiting for the next season to arrive.
More rewards for Wild Rift Ranked Season 4
To end the year on a high note, Riot Games introduced a massive overhaul to the upcoming ranked reward system in its mobile MOBA title. According to MartianSpider, here are the main reasons as to why they revamped the Wild Rift Ranked Season 4 rewards.
Make Ranked more rewarding throughout the season, instead of doling out all the rewards at the end.
Reintroduce a “pace-breaker” during the climb, where occasionally your next few games have higher stakes
Fulfil a promise to players in regions who missed opportunities to earn skins due to our rolling Open Beta schedule.
Give players some longer-term rewards for their season-over-season legacy.
Overall, just grant more rewards for playing and succeeding in Wild Rift’s most popular game mode.
Wild Rift Ranked Season 4 will be arriving alongside the patch 2.6 update and boasts a ton of new features that players can look forward to.
Season Rewards Tracker
Instead of acquiring the rewards in bulk at the end of the season, players can now acquire rewards as they make progress in their ranked matches. The progression works similar to the Wild Pass where players will gain points for every ranked game they play. Overall performance after each match will also matter, giving more points for higher contributions you make during a game.
“Ideally we want players who are focused on getting the highest ranks possible to be rewarded further with this system and to disincentivize skilled players from hanging around in lower ranks just to farm rewards,” stated MartianSpider.
It is important to note that players of higher ranks can get a larger bonus for their performance in each match.
Unlike the previous seasons, the Glorious skins will be placed within the rewards tracker instead of simply acquiring it after hitting the Gold tier and playing 10 games. This prevents players from getting the skin immediately after only a few matches.
“We just want to make sure that getting this reward still feels meaningful and something to work towards each season!” stated MartianSpider.
A shiny skin overlay for the Glorious skins will also be given to players who continue to grind past Gold rank. This skin overlay will be seen during the match loading screen to show your efforts in ranked matches.
Ranked Store
The ranked store will be added once the Wild Rift Patch 2.6 update officially arrives. The new store will feature a ton of exciting new collectibles that can be purchased using Ranked Coins that players will earn by playing ranked matches.
For Wild Rift Ranked Season 4, Glorious Tryndamere will be made available in the shop. Glorious Jinx will soon follow in Season 5.
Players who missed the previous seasons' Glorious skins can also unlock these skins through the Ranked store. However, there will be a time delay for earlier Glorious skin releases so players who earned them in previous seasons have time to let their achievement shine.
The content in the store is also solely for Ranked Coins and cannot be purchased through Wild Cores.
Weekend Rewards Series
This is a special event where players can earn double the amount of points every weekend to progress through the Season Rewards track. This series ends after winning three games or after 48 hours, whichever comes first.
“We think that this “pace-breaker” is great for keeping the climb exciting, but we wanted to capture it without the potential bad feelings of missing out on a promotion,” stated MartianSpider.
It will be interesting to see how much of an impact these new changes should have for the Ranked competitive matches in Wild Rift.
