The upcoming League of Legends: Wild Rift Japan Cup (WJC) 2022 Main Stage is set to kick off on 9th April and will last until 8th May. The main stage qualifiers will last for two days where registered teams will compete to secure a spot in the main event. Registrations for the qualifiers of the WJC 2022 Main Stage are now open and will accept applicants until late March. The official page of Wild Rift Japan states that if there are a large number of registered teams, it will have a limitation on how many teams can participate in the tournament.

WJC 2022 main stage qualifiers details

One of the biggest Wild Rift esports events in Japan is set to kick off soon. The WJC 2022 will serve as the regional qualifier for the upcoming Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022.

The tournament boasts a 5 million Yen ($46,000 USD) prize pool and will start with a qualifier series where registered teams will compete for a slot in the main tournament. Last year’s champion, Sengoku Gaming, and the finalist, Donuts USG, have received a direct invite for the WJC 2022 main stage.

How to register in the WJC 2022 qualifiers

Interested teams can register by heading to the official registration page of Wild Rift Esports Japan.

The tournament registration opens on 7th March and will last until 21st March. Each player from a team, including coaches and reserved players are required to register on the official website.

Each participant will need to set up their profile and submit the consent form after registering for the tournament. The consent form can be completed and submitted before 25th March.

WJC 2022 schedule and tournament format

The qualifiers stage will start on 2nd April and will last for two days. Depending on how many teams have registered for the tournament, the amount of teams participating may be limited.

According to Liquipedia Wild Rift, the top six teams from the WJC 2022 main open qualifiers will proceed to the groups stage on 9th April and compete in a double round-robin BO1 format. The top four teams from the group stage will secure a spot in the WJC 2022 playoffs stage.

The playoffs stage will commence on 7th May and will last for two days. The remaining teams will compete in a Single Elimination BO5 series for the semifinals while the grand finals will be settled in a BO7 series.

The crowned champions in the WJC 2022 will proceed to the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022 group stage while the runner-up team will head to the play-ins of the world championship.

Fans can tune in to the official Twitch channel of Riot Games Japan to catch the live broadcast of the WJC 2022.

Last year, Sengoku Gaming earned the honor of representing Japan in the Wild Rift Horizon Cup 2021. As the Japanese esports scene for Wild Rift grows in popularity, the competition will be more challenging as more teams will be looking to take the championship title in the WJC 2022 and earn a spot in the upcoming Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022.
