The League of Legends: Wild Rift Europe, Middle East, and Africa Championship (WREC) for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region has been canceled due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The tournament is the official qualifiers tournament for the upcoming Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022. The announcement was made through the official Twitter of WREC, revealing that all matches for the regional circuit will be discontinued. More information regarding prize pool distributions for the participating teams in the WREC CIS is yet to be revealed. However, the WREC Europe (EU) and Turkey (TR) group stage will continue as planned.

WREC CIS will distribute its prize pool to the CIS group teams

As the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalates, esports events from its respective regions have been affected, including the WREC CIS. According to a post by the official Twitter page of WREC, the first season of the esports event is officially canceled and will no longer continue.

While the tournament circuit for the CIS region is canceled, the WREC EU and TR will continue to compete as planned, heading to the WREC Championship.

The prize money from the regional circuit will be distributed among the remaining teams in the open qualifiers. The twelve teams that will be sharing the prize pool are as follows;

  • CrowCrowd

  • Iron Spirit Gaming

  • Ultra-Weak

  • Dream Team

  • Central

  • FF5

  • No Sympathy

  • 1218

  • Kamni

  • Relentless

The prize pool for the WREC CIS is yet to be revealed. The remaining teams will be sharing the undisclosed prize pool but it is still unclear if there will be a CIS representative for the upcoming WREC Championship.

Riot Games made an effort to help Eastern Europe amidst Ukraine and Russia conflict

Recently, Riot Games pledged a total of $1 million USD donation across three non-profit organizations that support humanitarian relief efforts in Eastern Europe. From 5th -12th Match, all battle pass sales profit across all Riot Games official titles, as well as the profits for the Bee skin line in League of Legends for champions Orianna, Ziggs, Heimerdinger, and Nunu & Willump, will also be added to the overall donation.
