Following the surge of “WR is dying” videos and discussions circulating around the League of Legends: Wild Rift community, Riot Games’ Esports Project Manager Ban-ChisinX has shared his sentiments towards the issue. This Tweet was made just a few days after popular content creator David "Assassin Dave" Mao made a video titled “Why I LEFT Wild Rift, real talk”, where he spoke out his opinions on why he stopped making content about Riot Games’ mobile MOBA. This caused a chain of reactions from the community and other Content Creators started posting videos expressing why they thought “Wild Rift was dying”. Ban-ChisinX assured that that team has learned a lot from player feedback and is constantly making new features and fixing the issues that the game is having.

The Debate on Whether Wild Rift is Dying or Not

The issue started when Assassin Dave posted a video on his YouTube channel titled explaining why he left Wild Rift. In the video, he states the problems that the game is currently facing and what it is lacking. He also added that he made a report detailing what the game lacks and needs improvement. However, Riot Games never responded to his report or at least acknowledged him. This led to videos getting posted by other content creators on YouTube and discussions on the community, asking the question of “is WR is Dying?”

Following Assassin Dave’s video, Ceirnan "Excoundrel" Lowe posted a follow-up video explaining that people are asking the wrong questions. In his video, he explains that Wild Rift is growing but not as fast as people expected it to be. He also added that we should be optimistic when discussing whether Wild Rift is growing or not.

Wild Rift Esports Project Manager Shares his Sentiments

Following the Wild Rift community’s discussions on whether the game was dying, Riot Games’ Esports Project Manager Ban-ChisinX shared his opinions regarding the matter. Ban-ChisinX explained that the game is constantly evolving with the help of the feedback it received from players and are constantly improving the game and fixing its problems.

“I could understand why there is a sudden surge of “WR is dying” videos. but all I can say is, give the devs time.” Ban-ChisinX tweeted.

He further added that he is as eager as everyone to improve the game as fast as possible, and especially giving the players a glimpse of the roadmap. However, things are extremely complicated and take time to develop.

“Give it time & we will get there because the devs DO CARE about the game & players,” he stated.

Another Wild Rift dev, Maddy Wojdak also shared her own opinions on the issue at hand. She stated that she and the other devs are working hard to deliver Wild Rift to all the fans and seeing comments like “Wild Rift Devs don’t care” is heartbreaking on her part.

One of the more active devs in the community Juno Blees also made her own statement regarding the issue. In her Twitter post, she expressed that she understands the frustrations that players have felt but at the end of the day, we all should respect each other.

Wild Rift is still growing but at a steady phase. However, the future is still uncertain for the game as the mobile MOBA category is too saturated and it might take time for Wild RIft to keep up with a successful game like Mobile Legends.

AFK Gaming is also working on analysis of how Wild Rift esports has performed so far and draw comparisons to Mobile Legends. Stay tuned to our full analysis later next week.
