The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports scene in the Philippines (PH) has come a long way since its first official league was introduced back in 2018. A lot of pro players have contributed to the continued growth of the esports ecosystem with some talents cementing themselves as some of the most iconic players who shaped the competitive scene in the region. Three of these iconic personalities have been featured in Esquire Magazine’s article as the 100 most powerful and influential people in the Philippines. These pro players are still active in the competitive scene and are still contributing to MLBB’s seemingly unstoppable rise in popularity.
MLBB stars featured in Esquire’s 100 Most Powerful People in the Philippines
MLBB is undoubtedly one of the most popular games in the Philippines. With its easy-to-play but rewarding-to-master gameplay, Filipinos of all ages can easily jump into the game and play for hours. Its esports scene has also grown vastly in the region, peaking at around 513,000 views in its official live stream of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) PH Season 10.
With the continued growth of the MLBB esports scene, a few notable talents have been featured in Esquire Magazine’s article. These include three MLBB pro players as well as a few more from the video game content creation and streaming industry:
Johnmar "OhMyV33nus" Villaluna and Danerie "Wise" Del Rosario were featured as the dynamic duo of the MLBB esports scene. The two are widely known for spearheading their team, Blacklist International, into claiming multiple titles such as the MPL PH Season 8 and 9 titles, the 31st Southeast Asia (SEA) Games, as well as the M3 World Championship trophy. Their influence in the MLBB esports scene stretches globally with pro players and fans from other countries recognizing them amongst the best players in the MLBB esports scene.
Blacklist International’s co-founder, Alodia Gosiengfiao was also mentioned as one of the most influential personalities in the Philippines. Her influence in content creation, cosplay, and the gaming community has really sparked the hearts of a lot of aspiring fans who wish to explore such ventures.
Setsuna “Dogie” Ignacio (also known as Batute) is more than just a pro player. He is also one of the most popular streamers and content creators in the Philippines. In the early days of MLBB esports, his team Aether Main, was able to claim the first Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 1 and the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2018 championship title. To this day, Dogie remains one of the most vocal personalities in the MLBB esports scene in the Philippines and has continued to hype up the game with his antics.
