One of the powerhouse League of Legends: Wild Rift teams in the world, Rex Regum Qeon Philippines (RRQ PH), has disbanded its roster. The news came as a surprise for the fans as the team previously posted hints that it may be competing in the upcoming Wild Rift League (WRL) Asia 2023. The squad is widely known for its laid-back attitude while still delivering a stellar performance in tournaments. However, shortly after the announcement of the start of the WRL Asia 2023, the esports organization announced that it is indefinitely stepping down from the esports scene. According to RRQ PH, the departure is temporary and it shall continue to invest in the PH esports scene.
RRQ PH bid farewell to its Wild Rift team
The fan-favorite Wild Rift team, RRQ PH made a surprising announcement on 28th January through its Facebook page. While fans were looking forward to the squad’s run in the upcoming WRL Asia 2023, the esports organization revealed that it shall disband its roster and will not be competing in upcoming tournaments.
“It is with a heavy heart to announce that we will be leaving the Wild Rift for now. It’s been an awesome two-year journey as the team showed continued progress tournament by tournament.,“ captioned RRQ PH.
While the esports organization has officially disbanded its Wild Rift team, it revealed that it shall continue to compete in the PH esports scene, possibly through other esports titles.
“This does not mean we will exit the Philippines, as we will continue to invest in the region,” wrote RRQ PH.
Fans were expecting the squad to compete in the upcoming WRL Asia 2023 as it previously announced the acquisition of the former Team Secret veteran Heri "Tatsurii" Garcia. However, the iconic mid laner will not get the chance to play under RRQ PH as it has disbanded its Wild Rift roster.
With RRQ PH out of contention, it will be interesting to see if another PH team will rise to the occasion in the upcoming WRL Asia 2023 and continue the legacy of the renowned King of Kings.
