The final week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9. Omega Esports was able to keep its playoffs dream alive with a 2-1 victory over Bren Esports. The recently released hero, Xavier also debuted under Omega Esports which became one of the key factors that helped the team secure the first game. With another loss in its standing, Bren Esports can no longer earn enough points to secure a playoffs spot. The two bottom contenders- Omega Esports and Blacklist International will be competing on who takes the final playoffs spot in the MPL PH Season 9.
Omega Esports revitalized after winning against Bren Esports
Bren Esports had a massive lead on the first game. However, Omega Esports pulled off a comeback at the 17-minute mark. Patrick “E2MAX” James Caidic’s Xavier applied pressure to all around the map thanks to the hero’s map-wide ultimate skill. Despite desperate efforts, Bren Esports’ Marco "SUPER MARCO" Stephen could not find an opening, which put the team at a big disadvantage during team fights. Omega Esports was able to secure the first game of the series.
With the playoff spot on the line, Bren Esports managed to secure a win in the second game to open a deciding match for the series. However, Omega Esports stood firm with Grant "Kelra" Duane Pillas showing impressive Lunox gameplay and Dean "Raizen" Christian Sumagui’s durable Paquito. The series ended with Omega Esports securing a 2-1 victory with Bren Esports losing its last chance at securing a playoffs spot.
Raizen admits to having been overconfident in game two
The second game saw Raizen struggling to go against Bren Esports in terms of objective clearing and team fights. Through a post-match interview, the pro player shared the reason behind his lackluster performance during the second game.
According to the pro player, the team was too hyped due to their success in the first game which made him lose his focus and became overconfident.
“I was too confident like no one can catch me. But then, I kept getting caught by Chou,” said Raizen.
Bren Esports’ Vincent "Joy Boy" De Guzman put forth an amazing performance with his Chou. The pro player was able to zone out Raizen and helped Kenneth "Saxa" Fedelin secure objectives with ease.
Despite this, Bren Esports could not keep up with the renowned “Comeback Kings.” Omega Esports eventually secured a 2-1 victory, keeping its playoff dream intact.
Omega Esports will be up against the defending champions, Blacklist International on 9th April. This match may determine who gets to secure a playoffs spot for the MPL PH Season 9.
