Blacklist International’s head coach Kristoffer “BON CHAN” Ricaplaza urges fans to remain supportive of the teams even if they are struggling in the regular season of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9. After a grueling match against the Kingslayers, RSG PH, Blacklist International secured a 2-1 victory and retained the sixth place spot on the regular season leaderboard. Through a post-match interview, BON CHAN opened up about the criticism that they have been receiving from fans due to their lackluster performance in the tournament. The coach added that fans should stick with their idols even when they are underperforming instead of bashing them on social media.
BON CHAN asks the MPL PH community to respect pro players
The defending champion of the MPL PH Season 9, Blacklist International is struggling to find its momentum in the regular season. Currently, the team only has three wins and has lost 10 times. The victory against the top-performing team, RSG PH, was a breath of fresh air for the team and fans. However, it’s still too early to celebrate as the defending champion is still ranked in sixth place and is on the brink of being eliminated from the tournament.
After a grueling match against RSG PH, the team’s head coach, BON CHAN addressed the constant criticism and toxicity the team has been receiving due to its lackluster performance in the regular season. He stated that some fans should change their mindset and stop hating on pro players whenever they lose a match.
“Their expectations for us are really high to the point that we just lose one time, they have a lot of things to say which I hope to serve as a wake-up call for the ML (Mobile Legends) community,” BON CHAN said. “I hope you stick with them (pro players) even when they are on the losing side.”
The Blacklist International coach also shared his observation of some fans being quick to call out the pro players’ mistakes without considering the achievements these pro players have earned throughout their careers.
“A player may have won 100 times, but they (fans) will only notice and talk about the two losses,” BON CHAN said. ”Let’s join our idols in their ups and downs, not only when they are winning.”
Blacklist International will have its final battle for the playoffs spot on 9th April against Omega Esports. This match shall determine if the defending champion will be able to secure a lower bracket seed or be eliminated from the tournament.
