Nova Esports dominated J Team in first ever Icons Championship Finals

The grand finale of the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022 came to an end with one of the most dominant displays that we've ever seen in esports history. Nova Esports, the team that eliminated the top seed team FunPlus Phoenix, delivered a 4-0 clean sweep victory against J Team.

The team’s star jungler An "Long" Xulong stole the spotlight with his precise rotations and objectives. While J Team tried multiple tactics in hopes of outsmarting their opponent, Nova Esports was always one step ahead in drafting and team fights.

This marks Nova Esports’ 7th mobile esports world championship title across various esports titles. This victory further solidifies the org as the “Powerhouse Organization” in terms of mobile esports in general.

Which champions would get the Nova Esports Wild Rift World Championship Skin?

During the previous post-grand finals interview, Nova Esports had shared the champions they would prefer for the first world series skins. These were what they had picked;

  • Zhang “Y1ze” Yize (Baron Lane): Camille or Riven

  • An "Long" Xulong (Jungle): Lee Sin

  • Wei “Nian” Haojin (Mid Lane): Yasuo, Corki or Lucian

  • Ma “Remake” Zhengyue (Dragon Lane): Senna or Corki

  • Tang “Yami ” Zhiqang (Support): Yuumi or Rakan

With Nova Esports being the first official Wild Rift World Champion, it will be interesting to see if the team will be able to keep its momentum going and the next season.
