Nexplay EVOS' H2wo is Relieved After Winning the First Round of the MPL PH Season 8 Playoffs

Nexplay EVOS made it past the first round of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 8 playoffs stage. The team is widely known for always exiting on the first round of the playoffs since its official debut back in MPL PH Season 6. However, after two seasons of early playoffs exits, Nexplay broke free from its curse and defeated RSG PH through a 3-0 clean sweep victory in the MPL PH Season 8 playoffs. One of the team’s core members, John Paul “H2wo” Salonga expressed his excitement for the team’s achievement in the current season.

Nexplay EVOS breaks free from its playoffs curse

Since the team debuted back in MPL PH Season 6, Nexplay EVOS has never survived the first round of the playoffs stage. During the team’s debut season, it was eliminated by Bren Esports in the first round. The team managed to secure another playoffs spot during Season 7 but was immediately dropped by the underdog team Work Auster Force. This resulted in fans embracing this phenomenon through memes that Nexplay will always be “8th place secured.”

The tides have finally turned for the better as Nexplay EVOS opened the playoffs stage of the MPL PH Season 8 with an impressive performance. The team cruised through the opening match with a 3-0 clean sweep victory score against RSG PH.

One of the team’s veteran members, H2wo, breathed a sigh of relief as his team finally was able to deliver a solid performance for the fans. In a post-match interview, after the match against RSG PH on 21st October, the pro player expressed his excitement for the team’s achievement.

“The curse of ‘first-round exit’ since Season 6 has been lifted. Now we’re top four, Let’s go,” stated H2wo.

However, the team’s celebration was cut short when they fell to the hands of ONIC Esports in the second match on 22nd October. This isn’t the end for Nexplay EVOS as the team will still get its chance for redemption if it can recover and climb its way out of the lower brackets.

Needless to say, Nexplay EVOS has definitely come a long way. From being the first to exit the playoffs to becoming a formidable team that overcame its problems and learned from its mistakes to reach where they are now. It will be interesting to see if Nexplay EVOS will be able to climb back up from the lower brackets and reach the grand finals of the MPL PH Season 8.
