As teams prepare for the upcoming Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) Indonesia (ID) Season 9, Moonton announced that the tournament will be held offline on 18th Feb. While the match schedules are yet to be revealed, the upcoming season will be held at Jabodetabek, also known as Jakarta metropolitan area, and shall feature a live audience. More details regarding ticket prices and seat bookings will be revealed at a later date. The MPL ID Season 9 will see ONIC Esports defend its championship title against seven other franchise teams as well as the lion’s share of the $300,000 USD prize pool.

MPL ID Season 9 will be following very strict health protocols

A lot has changed since the pre-season with Alter Ego sending Julian "Leomurphy" Murphy and Ahmad "Ahmad" Abdurrahman to its Mobile Legends Development League (MDL) division, Alter Ego X. EVOS Legends also had two of its pro players - Joshua "LJ" Darmansyah, Muhammad "Wann" Ridwan, sent to its MDL team, EVOS Icon. RRQ Hoshi’s star veteran Muhammad "Lemon" Ikhsan will also be returning to the pro scene this season after a brief hiatus.

Since MPL ID Season 6, teams have been competing online and the tournament could only be viewed through livestreams provided by the tournament organizers. It was not until Season 7 and 8 that the tournament tried to host the playoffs stage at a physical location at Bali, a province in Indonesia.

For MPL ID Season 9, the tournament will be held fully offline and tickets will be sold to interested fans who want to see their favorite teams competing in the tournament. The tournament will still be streamed on the official streaming platforms for fans to tune in.

The tournament will be held in Jabodetabek, one of the most populous metropolitan areas in Indonesia.

However, the tournament will be following strict protocols to secure the safety of the players, staff, and audiences.

The MLBB esports scene in Indonesia is slowly going back to hosting events offline instead of solely being an online tournament. Fans can now cheer for their favorite teams as they compete for the crown of champions in the upcoming MPL ID Season 9.
