Naman “Mortal” Mathur is one of the veterans of the BGMI community. He is the owner of Team Soul and has also been an esports athlete for the same. He is also the co-owner of S8UL esports which has several well known content creators under its banner. He has won several titles in the past and has also represented India on the international stage. Mortal also livestreams various mobile and PC games including Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Valorant, Among Us, Pokemon Unite, etc. on his YouTube channel daily along with other S8UL creators.

Mortal wishes to make a comeback to esports

Mortal has had his fair share of experience in the BGMI esports scene. He was one of the core players of Team Soul back in the day when he used to compete. He has not been a part of competitive esports for more than a year now and the last time he competed was in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2022 event.

Recently, Mortal shared a post on Threads (an extension of Instagram) and desired to make a return to competitive esports. The post read, “I really want to make a return to competitive esports. But the terms and conditions for an esports athlete should be different.”

A follower replied to him saying he should play from another team to which he replied, “There is a rule that I cannot play for another team if I am the owner of Team Soul.”

Mortal has been one of the household names in the mobile gaming community since the days of Players Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile. He had formed Team Soul, consisting of Mohammed "Owais" Lakhani, Harpreet "Ronak" Janjuha, and Yash "VipeR" Soni, and together the squad had tasted success in various tournaments. Some of the major achievements include winning the PUBG Mobile India Series (PMIS) 2019 and the PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO) - Spring Split: India. The team was one of the few to represent India in PUBG Mobile on the global stage.

For the time being it can be said that it will be impossible for Mortal to make a return to competitive esports due to the rules laid down by Krafton. Although he can play third party tournaments and events he will not be able to participate in official events from another team aside from Team Soul.
