Moonton has recently announced Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Cambodia (KH) through an Instagram post, following the recent debut of the MPL Brazil Season 1. The first season of MPL Cambodia will be a joint effort with Cambodia’s leading mobile telecommunications operator, Smart. This new league will give Cambodian gamers the chance to polish their skills and compete in an official Mobile Legends esports scene. Similar to other MPL regions, the Cambodian League will have two seasons per year with the first season kicking off in August and will run until October 2021. More details regarding the first season of MPL Cambodia can be found below.

Cambodia Reveals Its Own MPL Tournament

Cambodia has been one of the most consistent regions to participate in the Mobile Legends esports scene, with Impunity KH being its latest representative in events such as the M2 World Championships, and the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2021. Despite this, the region never had its own official esports league, until recently.

A big reveal was announced through the official Facebook page of Leng by Smart on 20th July 2021, revealing that Cambodia will finally have its own Mobile Legends league, MPL KH, with its first season being held sometime in August 2021.

We are so excited to be the partner of choice of Moonton for bringing a major esports league to Cambodia for the first time. Gaming is becoming ever more popular in Cambodia. We always listen to our customers, many of whom are passionate gamers that want a proper league here that will provide real competition and real opportunities to progress,” stated Smart Axiata CEO, Thomas Hundt, as quoted by Khmer Times.

The champions of the first season of MPL KH will have the bragging rights of becoming the first champions of the major Mobile Legends esports league in the region along with the chance to represent Cambodia in the upcoming M3 World Championship.

More details regarding the registration, tournament format, and where to watch the MPL KH Season 1 will be revealed soon. Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for upcoming updates.

Building an official esports league in Cambodia is just one of Moonton’s ways of expanding its reach globally. It will be interesting to see how the esports scene in Cambodia evolves in the future.
