The ten participating teams were revealed through the official social media handles of MPL Malaysia. The eight invited teams along with the top two teams, EBLIZ and Team Secret, from the qualifiers, are now set for the regular season and will be competing for the championship title including the lion’s share of the $100,000 USD prize pool.

Here are the 8 invited teams and the two qualified teams who will be competing in the upcoming MPL MY Season 8;

  • Home Bois

  • Suez Esports

  • Team SMG

Tournament Format

The ten participating teams will be split into two groups; Group A and Group B. For the first phase, teams in the same group will face each other in a round-robin BO3 format. For the second phase, all teams from the opposite group will then compete in a single round-robin format.

For each win, a team will earn one point. Losing a match will result in a one-point deduction. The top four teams from each group will proceed to the playoffs with the bottom two teams eliminated. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the upper brackets while the third and fourth placers from each group will fight their way into the lower bracket.

Last season, RSG MY dominated the scene after defeating Todak with a score of 4-2. It will be interesting to see how the two underdogs will perform in the upcoming tournament against the biggest names of the Malaysian Mobile Legends esports scene.
