MobaZane Believes M5 World Championship Will Decide if "PH Era" Is Truly Over

In the aftermath of the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series Season 3 SEA MLBB event, BloodThirstyKings' (BTK) team captain, Michael "MobaZane" Cosgun, addressed the prevailing sentiment among fans that the Philippines (PH) has lost its longstanding dominance in the esports scene. During the playoffs stage, the Indonesian (ID) team, Bigetron Alpha (BTR), delivered a major upset by consecutively eliminating three formidable PH teams. This sequence of events sparked apprehension that the era of PH supremacy in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports was coming to a close. As the M5 World Championship looms ahead, MobaZane claims that the upcoming international event shall decide if this is truly the end of an era.
MobaZane thinks ID teams just adjusted faster than PH teams
During a livestream, MobaZane shared his thoughts on the implications of the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series Season 3 SEA MLBB event results, questioning whether they signify the beginning of the PH teams' waning dominance.
“End of PH Era? I mean, we’ll see in M5… It is a tournament (ESL Snapdragon Series) but we’ll see when it’s the world cup,” he said.
While he remains skeptical about fans claiming that this is the end of PH’s dominance, he still admits that Indonesia has been quite strong in recent tournaments.
“ONIC (Esports) is really, really strong though, so I don’t even know if they’ll be able to beat that, the Filipinos,” MobaZane explained. “Even then, they (PH teams) couldn’t beat BTR, then BTR got destroyed by ONIC.”
He further explained that “Filipinos just couldn’t adjust well to this meta” compared to Indonesians. However, in time, he believes, PH teams will be able to catch up and start showing their dominance once again.
“For now, Indo is obviously stronger, I mean, they f***ed everyone in Snapdragon. But, I think Filipinos will probably get stronger as time goes on. I just think Indonesia adjusted faster,” said MobaZane.
It will be interesting to see if teams from the Philippines will be able to recover from their early slump in international events and come back stronger in the upcoming M5 World Championship.
