Mamoswine Is Now Available in Pokémon UNITE
Pokémon UNITE introduced a new Pokemon known as Mamoswine. The new Pokemon was expected to release with the patch 1.2.1.5 update. However, to everyone’s surprise, Mamoswine appeared before the patch update arrived, making him a part of version 1.2.1.4. The new Pokemon is classified as an Ice/Ground-type mammoth Pokemon and can be unlocked for 8,000 Aeos Coins or 460 Aeos Gems. The latest Pokémon UNITE patch update brought about a ton of in-game fixes for various bugs along with a new holowear for the Pokemon Ninetails which will be released in October 2021.
Pokémon UNITE Introduces Mamoswine in the game
Mamoswine is an Ice/Ground-type mammoth Pokemon. Its specialty is Melee Defender, which means its main role is usually to serve as the team’s tank and initiator. As the team’s tank, Mamoswine excels at providing crowd control effects such as slows or freezing enemies.
Here is a quick overview of Mamoswine’s abilities in Pokemon Unite;
Unite Move - Mammoth Mash
This move deals damage to opponents and makes Mamoswine immune to crowd control effects. Enemies hit will also have their movement speed reduced and shall get displaced at the end of the ability’s duration.
Move - Ice Crash
Drops icicles at the designated location, dealing damage to enemies within the area of effect and decreasing their movement speed. The final icicle shatters after a set amount of time or when they are hit by other users’ moves or boosted attacks, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon in the area of effect and leaving them frozen. If the icicle is shattered by Tackle of High Horsepower, the ground will be covered in ice, increasing the movement speed of ally Pokemon within the area. (Cooldown: 10 seconds)
Move - Ice Fang
Throws the closest enemy, dealing damage and leaving the enemy frozen for a short time. The user can then choose a direction to slam the Pokemon forward or backward, dealing damage to enemies in the area of effect and leaving them frozen for a short time. (Cooldown: 8 seconds)
Move - High Horsepower
Recklessly charges in the designated location, dealing damage to enemies hit and shoving them. The user then stomps its feet, dealing damage to enemies in the area of effect leaving them unable to act for a short time. The stomping deals more damage to frozen enemies. (Cooldown: 8 seconds)
Move - Earthquake
Mamoswine leaps up in the designated direction and then lands forcefully, dealing damage to enemies in the area of effect and pulling them to itself. (Cooldown: 7.5 seconds)
In conclusion, Mamoswine is a pretty solid initiator Pokemon. When used properly, Mamoswine can hold off the enemy just enough for allies to get into the fray and execute their opponents before the enemies can even have a chance to react. However, being a melee type Pokemon makes Mamoswine quite risky to play as you have to get up close and personal with your opponents in order to take them down.
It will be interesting to see how the new Pokemon Mamoswine shall fit into the current meta of Pokémon UNITE.
