After a huge upset against Blacklist International, RSG PH came back stronger in the fifth week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 10. The defending champions delivered a clean sweep victory against the renowned comeback kings, Omega Esports with an impressive 2-0 clean sweep victory. The team is now at the top of the leaderboard with five wins and three losses and has earned a total of 15 points. With RSG PH rising back at the top, the team’s star roamer Dylan "Light" Aaron Catipon shared in a post-match press conference that aside from defending the championship title, he aims to win the regular season MVP for the second time.
RSG PH upsets Omega Esports with a clean sweep victory
The first game of the series saw an intense Lord contest during the 24-minute mark with Omega Esports forcing its opponent to split its manpower. However, this did not work in Omega Esports’ favor as it resulted in a four-for-one trade, in favor of RSG PH, leaving Renz "Renzio" Salonga Cadua as the sole survivor.
With the Lord secured, RSG PH went straight in the mid-lane and finished the game with 21 overall kills and only nine deaths.
Omega Esports could not recover from its shaky performance in the second game. At the 19-minute mark, RSG PH had already cleared all inhibit turrets while Dean "Raizen" Christian Sumagui desperately defended the base with his Fanny. Omega Esports’ defense was all in vain as RSG PH continued marching down the mid lane and closed the series with a clean sweep victory.
Light aims to be a two-time regular season MVP title holder
Light’s presence in the match between RSG PH and Omega Esports was definitely crucial for his team’s victory. This was solidified as he earned both MVP titles for the two matches played.
Through a post-match press conference, Light shared one of his goals this season. According to him, he is vying for another regular season MVP title after earning one back in the MPL PH Season 9.
“I wanna try again, see if I can get another MVP [award] this season,” stated RSG PH’s star roamer.
Light will have more opportunities to rack up some more MVPs in the upcoming match against TNC Pro Team on 16th September at 5:00 PM (PHT). Omega Esports will have to find a way to recover from their shaky performance against Blacklist International on 10th September at 7:30 PM (PHT).
