The two-time world champion of ECHO, Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno was honored as the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) Press Corps SMART Player of the Year. The pro player is widely known for his incredible Lancelot gameplay back in his run under Bren Esports. Transitioning to his new team, ECHO, he has shown massive improvement with his wider hero pool in the jungle role. KarlTzy is one of the few exceptional talents who received accolades in the MPL PH Press Corps awards night which was held on 8th March 2023.

KarlTzy named MPL PH Player of the Year

Through a post on the official Facebook page of MPL PH Press Corps, it was revealed that one of the most iconic MLBB stars in the Philippines, KarlTzy was crowned as the SMART Player of the Year.

“No player has been able to impact his team’s success and exemplify the true spirit of sportsmanship, competition and fair play in the past year than Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno,” the post captioned.

KarlTzy is one of the players who shocked the MLBB esports scene in recent years. The pro player started his career under Bren Esports where he spearheaded the squad into winning the M2 World Championship. While the squad eventually had a fallout after the world series event, KarlTzy found his new home under ECHO.

Under a new team, the star jungler expanded his hero pool and saw a drastic change in his playstyle. From a flashy assassin jungler, KarlTzy shifted to a tank utility jungler with heroes such as Barats and Fredrinn. With a new and refined playstyle, KarlTzy joined ECHO and secured the M4 World Championship title, making him the first player to win a world series event twice.

Aside from the prestigious Player of the Year title, KarlTzy is also one of the talents who was honored with the All-MPL PH Team Award alongside his allies Alston "Sanji" Pabico, and Benedict "BennyQT" Gonzales. Edward "EDWARD" Dapadap of Blacklist International and Dylan "Light" Catipon of RSG Slate PH were also awarded with the same title.

ECHO is currently competing for a championship title in the MPL PH Season 11. It will be interesting to see if the squad, along with KarlTzy, will be able to keep its momentum going and win another trophy.
