Team SouL’s professional Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) player Sohail “Hector” Shaikh recently revealed the reason behind his decision to leave New State Mobile and switch back to BGMI. According to Hector, he was inspired by his BGMI team’s participation in tournaments with significantly larger prize pools than those in which he was competing while playing New State Mobile. He expressed his confidence in his ability to play New State Mobile but stated that he could not take long breaks from BGMI as it would affect his skills in the game.

Hector switches departs from New State Mobile due to a lack of tournaments with higher prize pools

On 16th December, the owner of TeamXSpark, Tanmay “Scout” Singh, announced that Hector would be playing with TeamSpark as the in-game leader (IGL) of the game for the Snapdragon Pro Series New State Mobile Open India. This marked Hector’s official entry into the New State Mobile esports scene. Following this tournament, Hector announced that he was making a new team with Team SouL’s Akshat “AkshaT” Goel, former Nigma Galaxy professional player Harshit “MJ” Mahajan, and Team XO’s Deepak “SENSEI” Negi.

After a short and successful stint of two months in New State Mobile, Hector announced his departure from the game through an Instagram Story on 19th February. However, he did not reveal any specific reason for his sudden departure from the game. As a result, fans were curious to know more about it and started speculating reasons for it.

In a recent livestream, a viewer asked Hector the reason behind him leaving the game. According to Hector, he was inspired to switch back to BGMI after watching his BGMI team compete in tournaments with significantly larger prize pools than those in which he was participating in New State Mobile. Feeling dissatisfied with his current situation, Hector began to consider when he would have the opportunity to compete in larger tournaments and prove himself against the competition. “I used to watch my team play BGMI. They were playing tournaments with a prize pool of ₹5 Lakhs, ₹2 Lakhs, and ₹1 Lakh. And then, I thought that I was only playing tournaments of ₹50 thousand. I started thinking about when I will get to play a big tournament with a big prize pool, win it, and tell them that I am playing more than them. But there were no such tournaments. So then I decided to play BGMI,” he said.

Hector also expressed his confidence in his ability to play New State Mobile, stating that he has “cracked” the game and that he was prepared to give his best in every match he plays. “Whenever I play the game now, I will give my best. I have grinded that much. I know it, and I’m confident in that game,” he added.

Hector stated that he could not take long breaks from BGMI as it would affect his skills. He later emphasized that he made the decision to leave New State Mobile primarily due to the lack of LAN events for the game. In addition, his teammate AkshaT expressed a desire to compete in BGMI rather than New State Mobile. “I made the new team with AkshaT and for AkshaT. Then I talked with SENSEI and all and decided that Villager would be our last event. And after that, back to BGMI,” he added.

Hector’s decision to switch back to BGMI comes amid the unavailability of the game. BGMI’s future is still uncertain as neither the government nor Krafton has stated anything regarding its potential return. It will be exciting to see how this move affects Hector’s professional career.
