Former League of Legends (LoL) pro player Chen "Mouse" Yu-Hao returns to his old roots under Edward Gaming (EDG) as the team’s Wild Rift coach. The announcement was revealed through the official social media handles of EDG, welcoming the top laner as the third coach for its Wild Rift team. Mouse is a former top laner of EDG who went on a two-year hiatus in 2018 before returning to the pro scene as a Wild Rift coach, as announced on 26th Nov 2021. The pro player has contributed a lot to the team’s success in the LoL PC esports scene in China and is considered as one of the best pro players in the region.

Mouse returns to the pro scene as EDG Wild Rift’s coach

One of the League of Legends Professional League (LPL) organizations, EDG, fortified its Wild Rift team by acquiring its former LoL pro player Mouse as its coach. This was announced through the official social media handles of EDG, revealing the third coach for its Wild Rift team alongside Qiu "Cbj" Baijie and Liu "mik1" Peng.

“Welcome back, EDG Mouse! Our former top laner Mouse now comes back to coach Wildrift in EDG!” captioned Edward Gaming.

Since its debut on 19th June 2021, EDG’s Wild Rift team has been performing well in the esports scene with championship titles in various events such as Wild Rift Rivals: LCK vs LPL and Douyu Master Legends 2021 August. However, the team failed to impress its fans after finishing 5th place in the Wild Rift League 2022: LPL Qualifier, failing to secure a slot for the Horizon Cup 2021.

The team is composed of the following players;

  • Zhang "XZhang" Zhen

  • Peng "yuf" Youxiong

  • Guansheng "SkyFL" Xu

  • Li "Haibara" Zhiqin

  • Mu "Mumu" Haifan

  • Li "LangGui" Sicheng

Who is EDG Mouse

Mouse is considered as one of the best top laners of EDG since he started playing for the team in July 2014. The pro player started as a support player before being shifted to top laner in 2015 where he eventually found the role that suited him best.

During his stay in Edward Gaming, the team managed to keep its momentum in the LPL 2017 Summer Playoffs, claiming the championship title and booking a ticket to the LoL World Championship 2017. However, the team had a lackluster performance and finished 12th-3th place in the international event.

Edward Gaming continued its esports journey and qualified for the LoL World Championship 2017. However, Mouse went on a long break and missed the international event. Nonetheless, the team finished 5th-8th place in the tournament.

With Mouse’s shift to the Wild Rift esports scene as a coach, it will be interesting to see how EDG will perform in next year’s Wild Rift esports events.
