Evos Esports expands to basketball
Being one of the household names in the Indonesian esports scene, EVOS Esports is looking to expand further and venture into physical sports, starting with basketball. This was revealed through a report from IBL, one of the prominent basketball leagues in Indonesia.
According to the league, EVOS Esports signed up as one of the new teams participating in upcoming basketball tournaments. The organization also aims to provide opportunities for aspiring basketball players in Indonesia.
“We want to provide a platform for young basketball players in Indonesia. If there are more IBL teams, then all of those talents can be absorbed,” stated EVOS Esports founder, Hartman Harris, as quoted by IBL.
Hartman also added that the success of the IBL in hosting the IBL Pertamax 2021 despite the global pandemic is a huge reason for EVOS Esports to venture into the basketball league.
"Internally, I have great respect for its management, with this very difficult situation and conditions, IBL, can highlight and give 100 percent to the fans," stated Hartman, as quoted by IBL.
EVOS Esports has yet to officially announce its team roster for the upcoming IBL tournaments. However, the organization aims to give young players the opportunity to showcase their talents in basketball.
"We think there are many talents that have not been discovered, so with the presence of Evos at the IBL, we believe that more and more new basketball talents will emerge," stated Hartman, as quoted by IBL.
EVOS Esports has cemented its place in the esports scene as one of the biggest and most successful mobile esports organizations in Indonesia. The organization continues to widen its reach across more regions in Southeast Asia (SEA) such as Singapore, Malaysia, and most recently, the Philippines.
It will be interesting to see if EVOS Esports’ basketball team will be able to achieve the same success as the organization’s mobile esports teams.
