ECHO and RSG PH have confirmed that they are competing in the first phase of the SIBOL MLBB Qualifiers to have a shot at representing the Philippines in the 2021 SEA Games.
The first phase is an open qualifier where both amateur and professional teams will clash to decide the teams proceeding to the second phase of the SIBOL MLBB Qualifiers. While the full list of participating teams for the first phase was not revealed, fans speculate that the rest of the MPL PH teams will also be vying for a spot in the qualifiers.
Previously, the top four teams from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 8 received a direct invite to the second phase of the SIBOL MLBB Qualifiers.
Other MPL PH teams will also compete in the SIBOL MLBB Qualifiers Phase 1
On 18th Jan 2022, the official Facebook page of SIBOL revealed the four directly invited MPL PH teams who will be participating in the second phase of its qualifiers. These teams are Blacklist International, ONIC PH, Omega Esports, and Nexplay EVOS.
As much as fans would love to see their favorite young star players, the event is only for players above 18 years of age. As a result, teams have had to adjust their rosters and exclude some of their younger players in order to participate in the tryouts.
According to a report from Tiebreaker Times, ECHO’s team manager Mitch Liwanag and RSG PH’s head coach Brian “Panda” Lim revealed that their teams have registered for the first phase since they did not receive a direct invite.
The direct invite was reserved for the top four teams of the MPL PH Season 8. Both teams may have confirmed that they will be participating, but ECHO and RSG PH will not be revealing their team rosters competing in the qualifiers until the tryouts officially start.
Whether the former SIBOL squad, Bren Esports, will be participating or not still remains a mystery. Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for more updates as the first phase of the SIBOL MLBB Qualifiers Phase 1 officially begins on 22nd Jan.
