ONIC PH continues its resurgence after taking down Nexplay EVOS in the sixth week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 10. The yellow hedgehogs were able to score a 2-0 clean sweep victory against the white tigers, to break even with Blacklist International at 18 points on the leaderboard.

Through a post-match press conference, the team’s EXP Laner Landher "Der" Gabriel expressed his joy at finally making a comeback in the MPL PH Season 10. The pro player played under TNC Pro Team during Season 8 but was shortly released after the team’s upsetting performance.

After its upsetting run in the weeks past, ONIC PH was able to recover from its shaky performance and dominated Nexplay EVOS with a clean sweep victory. Game one saw an all-out war at the 21-minute mark with Nexplay EVOS securing the Lord thanks to the solid combo of Ken “Kzen” Pile’s Hayabusa and Renejay “RENEJAY” Barcarse’s Esmeralda. However, the white tigers made a big mistake which immediately turned the tide in ONIC PH’s favor. The yellow hedgehogs kept their momentum going in the second game with Frince “SUPER FRINCE” Ramirez’s Selena landing abyssal arrows on crucial opponents to break Nexplay EVOS’ formation. RENEJAY did his best to buy time with his Uranus tanking minions to prevent it from pushing towards their base. However, ONIC PH was unstoppable and secured a 5-man wipeout at the 15-minute mark to close the series with a 2-0 victory.

Der is happy to be back in MPL under ONIC PH

Der was one of the pro players who didn’t see much action in the MPL PH esports scene. He first debuted under TNC Pro Team during Season 8 before being released in the off-season after the team’s lackluster performance.

During a post-match press conference, Der shared his story of what happened after he was released from the Phoenix squad.

“I don’t know why I was released from TNC Pro Team, I think [the team] really wanted to do a roster revamp,” stated ONIC PH’s EXP Laner. “When I was released, I practiced hard and then Monster Anarchy opened tryouts and I was acquired by coach Jeff.”

He added that it was nice to finally get the chance to return to the professional scene after two seasons.

“It’s nice to finally be back, especially now I can play more because last season I wasn’t able to play that much,” Der said.

ONIC PH shall aim to maintain its position on the leaderboard when it goes up against RSG PH on 18th September at 5:00 PM (PHT). Nexplay EVOS, who is in dire need of points, will be facing Omega Esports on 23rd September at 7:30 PM (PHT).
