Fans saw a surprising upset on the second day of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Invitational (MPLI) 2022 as EVOS Legends eliminated ECHO from the competition. The MPL Philippines (PH) runner-up team lost with a 1-2 score against the MPL Indonesia (ID) 7th placer. Despite securing a win in the second game of the series, the renowned super team of PH was completely overwhelmed by EVOS Legends’ revamped squad. Through a post-match interview, the White Tiger’s head coach Bjorn "Zeys" Ong admitted that they may have won simply because ECHO was more focused on its preparation for the M4 World Championship.

EVOS Legends takes massive win against PH powerhouse ECHO

Shortly after its disappointing performance in the MPL ID Season 10, EVOS Legends made a surprising comeback with its revamped roster in the MPLI 2022 when it went up against the MPL PH runner-up team ECHO.

ECHO went all out with a Gusion, Grock, and Lesley pick. However, EVOS Legends’ star jungler Ferdyansyah "Ferxiic" Kamaruddin was able to deliver just enough map pressure to prevent the renowned super team from hitting their powerspikes. With a very duirable front line team comp, EVOS Legends was able to keep Jabran "Branz" Wiloko’s Irethel safe from any assassination attempts to win the first game of the series.

ECHO was able to turn the tides in its favor in the second game. However, EVOS Legends bounced back in the third/deciding match to close the series with a 2-1 victory.

Coach Zeys thinks ECHO is more focused on preparing for M4 instead of winning MPLI 2022

Through a post-match interview, coach Zeys shared his thoughts as to why EVOS Legends was able to win against a formidable squad such as ECHO.

“I’d say we did good but for me, because we know ECHO is a representative of M4… I’d say that ECHO is just more of, preparing for M4 and they are not focused too much towards MPLI for now,” said coach Zeys.

“For now, I wouldn’t say that we are strong now, it’s just more like ECHO is not using its full force,” he added.

Despite the doubts and worries from fans, EVOS Legends has proven that it is working on its roster and finding the perfect team chemistry after its disappointing performance in the MPL ID Season 10. It will be interesting to see if EVOS Legends can keep its momentum going and potentially win the MPLI 2022.
