Bigetron Beta won the championship title in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Development League (MDL) Indonesia (ID) Season 6 after a 3-0 clean sweep victory against EVOS Icon in the grand finals. This came as a surprise for fans as EVOS Icon featured Gerald "Dlar" Trinchera, a Filipino import who is considered one of the best MLBB pro players in the Philippines (PH). Most fans and popular personalities in the community thought it was a waste of potential to send the young prodigy down to the development team. This sentiment was also echoed by Mark "Markyyyyy" Capacio, Dlar's former teammate who is now playing for Bigetron Alpha.
BTR Markyyyy shared his thoughts about Dlar’s demotion to the MDL roster
During the grand finals of the MDL ID Season 6, some of the MPL players gathered to witness the final match. One of the players who attended was Bigetron Alpha’s Filipino import Markyyyyy.
According to an interview by SPIN Esports, Markyyyyy is upset that Dlar, one of the strongest and iconic members of ONIC PH is now playing under EVOS Esports’ development team.
"I was quite sad to see Dlar playing at MDL, I think he is still a very strong and great player," Markyyyyy said, as quoted by SPIN Esports.
The two pro players were former teammates and played under ONIC PH. While the team was not able to win any major titles in its journey in the MLBB esports scene, it was considered one of the toughest teams to defeat. ONIC PH even had its own signature strategy known as the Banana Split which is the total opposite of Blacklist International’s Ultimate Bonding Experience (UBE) strategy.
The esports organization eventually let go of some of its pro players during its major roster revamp. Dlar joined EVOS Legends while Markyyyyy was acquired by Bigetron Alpha. However, during the second half of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) ID Season 10, Dlar was demoted to the team’s development league.
Despite this, Markyyyyy is still looking forward to seeing Dlar back in the MPL ID Season 11 where he belongs.
"I hope he can play in MPL soon, I really want to see him play there," said the Bigetron Alpha player, as quoted by SPIN Esports.
EVOS Legends head coach Bjorn "Zeys" Ong recently revealed that Dlar may be going back to the MPL squad in the next season. For now, fans will have to wait for the official roster reveal in the future.
