The battle for the coveted Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023 grand finals ticket has reached its conclusion as ONIC Esports emerged triumphant with a resounding 3-0 clean sweep victory over ECHO. The Yellow Hedgehogs have secured their spot in the grand finals, where they will face off against Blacklist International in a highly anticipated clash to determine this year's championship title.
During a post-match press conference, ONIC Esports' head coach, Paul "Yeb" Miranda, expressed his determination to instill a transformative mindset within the team when competing in tournaments. He emphasized the need for a shift in perspective to elevate their performance and achieve greater success on the competitive stage.
Coach Yeb wants ONIC Esports to trust each other and have fun competing on the big stage
The resilience of both ECHO and ONIC Esports was put to the test during the gripping second semifinals match of the MSC 2023. The Killer Orcas displayed tremendous effort to outlast the Yellow Hedgehogs, pushing the third game to nearly 40 minutes. However, despite its valiant efforts, ECHO couldn't secure a single victory in the Best of Five (Bo5) series.
As ONIC Esports continues to assert its dominance in the MSC 2023 knockout stage, Coach Yeb shed light on the key changes that have contributed to the team's flawless performance thus far in the tournament.
“I always say this, what I want them to change is to learn to trust in yourself and the team because if you play without thinking too much and just enjoy and just do your best, that’s where you unleash your full potential,” he explained.
Furthermore, Coach Yeb stressed that the team should not fear defeat as it would only distract them from their ultimate goal of competing at their highest level.
The grand finale of the MSC 2023 will witness ONIC Esports go head-to-head against Blacklist International on 18th June at 7:00 PM (PHT).
For the Codebreakers, winning the tournament would mark the completion of their major tournament victories. On the other hand, if ONIC Esports secures the championship title, it would signify the first-ever international title for its jungler, Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol.
