Blacklist International's star Gold Laner, Lee "Owl" Gonzales, has showcased an awe-inspiring performance during the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023. His exceptional skills played a pivotal role in leading the Codebreakers to secure their spot in the semifinals, propelling them further in their quest for this year's mid-season championship trophy. During a media conference, Frederick Handy "Mirko" Loho, one of Indonesia's most iconic shoutcasters, praised Owl for his remarkable resurgence following a shaky performance in the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) Season 11. Mirko even went as far as suggesting that Owl may rightfully inherit the title of the new Filipino Sniper, previously held by Blacklist International's Gold Laner, Kiel "OHEB" Q. Soriano.
Owl is the new Filipino Sniper, says Mirko
During a media interview with the MSC 2023 shoutcasters, Mirko provided his assessment of Owl's performance thus far in the tournament. The Indonesian caster emphasized that the pro player has showcased significant improvement compared to his previous performance in the MPL PH Season 11.
“MPL PH grand finals was just Owl getting destroyed by Bennyqt four games in a row, no winning lanes at all for Owl,” said Mirko. “But here [MSC 2023], he’s really different.”
He added his insights on how Blacklist International adjusted its playstyle to focus more on helping Owl win his lane instead of the usual focus on getting EDWARD to snowball in matches.
“I noticed in MPL PH, they were playing towards EDWARD and whenever they play towards Owl it just never works but here, they play towards Owl every single time,” Mirko stated.
With Owl’s impressive performance in the MSC 2023 so far, Mirko goes on to say “give him the Beatrix and he’s the new Filipino Sniper.”
It will be interesting to see if Owl can keep his momentum going and lead Blacklist International to secure a grand finals slot in the MSC 2023.
